Tottenham Hotspur have agreed in principle to sell Republic of Ireland international Robbie Keane to Birmingham City for 6 million pounds. The out of favor striker has made just 13 appearances this season, 11 as a sub, and has had the clearance to leave for some time. While Keane has yet to agree any personal terms with the club, which is crucial as they have scuppered previous potential agreements at West Ham and other clubs, it seems likely he will be wearing the blue and white of Birmingham soon enough.
The move, while not a dream for Keane, would guarantee him first team football, and a chance to show his quality against top flight opposition. For City’s part, they are clearly hoping to add to their woeful Premiership goal tally, and move further into the middle of the table to set themselves up for a run at UEFA Cup football two years from now.
More to come…
