Both Adidas and Puma make some pretty creditable soccer shoes. The women’s Puma Powercat and women’s Adidas Predator are two of the top women sellers in soccer boots. This led me to execute a comparison of the two.
First lets start off with the specifics of the physical appearance. The Puma Powercat is white with aqua blue and royal blue accents. The upper part of the Powercat is specifically designed for women’s feet with soft full-grain leather and a SpringTech foam. This leather helps form to the foot for heightened comfort. The four blue arced swooshes on the top of the foot, along with the blue puma on the outside of the boot, really add to the shoes appearance.
The Adidas Predator is sure to turn heads with the complimenting neon yellow and blue colors. On the outside of the shoe the classic three stripe Adidas mark can be found in blue with small neon yellow dashes through them. Along the top part of the boot there is a clear grip to better control the ball. The midsole has an internal chassis construction, which holds the revolutionary PowerSpine. This means you will have more power behind your shots. The cleats on the predator have enhanced grippers whereas the Puma Powercat has the typical grainy feel.
Both shoes have the laces placed on the side to help with accuracy. I find the Puma Powercat to protect my foot and heel better but on the downside it is slightly bulky. The Predator supports the arch of my foot better than the Powercat. The soft clear compound on the upper part of the Predator boot provides absolute and consistent swerve, accuracy, and control in any weather conditions. The Predators are not as tight as the Pumas. Something to keep in mind is the sizing with the Powercat. I normally wear a 6 ½ and I go up a whole size in these. The Predators fit true to size.
Both cleats have their pros and cons but my foot fits better in the Predators. The predator provides my foot comfort all game long while still adding effective aspects to my game.
