Home / La Liga / Revealed: Nike Barcelona Home Jersey 2012-2013

Barcelona had a down season this past season, failing to win La Liga or the Champions League. However, several Barcelona players were influential in Spain’s winning Euro 2012 and Spain standout Jordi Alba has just finalized his switch to Barcelona. Therefore, there is reason for Barcelona fans to be optimistic about the upcoming season as their team looks to get back to their winning ways. Barcelona will feature some new players this season as well as a new jersey that looks great. The new Nike Barcelona home jersey is a sleek looking design that goes away from past jersey styles.

Style

The first thing you’ll notice about this new home jersey is the absence of the traditional vertical stripes that are normally on Barcelona jerseys. Instead, the main color is a dark blue with a single red stripe down the center. Nike has put a nice transition effect that makes the colors fade into each other. The change in design gives the jersey a modern style. The jersey also features red on the sleeves. Two other nice features on this jersey is the Catalan flag on the back of the neck and “mes que un club” on the inside of the neck that translates to “more than a club.” The Qatar Foundation remains the sponsor on the front of the jersey with Unicef on the lower part on the back of the jersey.

Feel

As with most Nike jerseys, this one is made of 100 percent polyester that makes it very comfortable and light. It also features Nike Dri-Fit to keep you dry and comfortable as you cheer on your favorite team. The jersey fits true to size so you will not have to worry about sizing issues when you order.

Overall

Barcelona has completely revamped their traditional jersey design with this latest style and it looks great. It is always nice to have a new style every once in a while. Even though this jersey got rid of the vertical stripes, it maintains the Catalan flag on the back and the “mes que un club” on the inside of the neck to keep the great features from old jerseys. This is currently available for pre-order at SoccerPro.com, so grab one today to gear up for the upcoming season.
