So the latest Nike Pro Combat Slider short has been released and I gave a run out here at soccerprose.com’s test field (my local park). The shorts are designed with ergonomics in mind, so they’re comfortable, but you will definitely feel the compression. They’re not uncomfortable, and the design seems to allow for some movement on the run. The best part of these shorts has top be the pads which start on the hips and run down the outside of each leg.

They’re designed to give you a little extra protection from the ground when sliding, and I found they cushion the impact of the ball, and other players impacting on you well. The fabric has moisture wicking fiber in it, so they won’t become logged with sweat during a game, and they have anti friction panels along the base of either leg. This means they won’t ride up during the match, and lead to so awkward on field adjustments.

Overall, they’re a decent pair of compression shorts, and the pro’s like Rooney wear them, and they definitely passed our test. They’re on sale now at soccerpro.com for $44.99.
