Home / EPL / Asamoah Gyan Books a Holiday, Discovers No Winter Break for EPL

Another day in the Premiership, another day of that-o-so strange news that the transfer window always brings. First of all, it seems Asamoah Gyan, one of Sunderland’s best players, seems to not totally be a ware of the fixtures calendar, or was looking for a few days rest, as he had booked a flight home to Ghana for a winter holiday, despite their being fixtures this weekend. It seems he was under the impression that the EPL had a winter break, and he was going to have some time off, but as reported in the Daily Mirror, he has since cancelled his trip as he has been selected for their FA Cup match against Notts County. To be fair, Gyan did ask to be excused from this weekends play ma month ago, when he made the shocking discovery that the EPL actually gets more intense, and puts more miles on your soccer shoes during the holidays than any other time in the season.

It seems the real reason behind his ending his weekend trip plans is Sunderland’s injury crisis. They have been stretched thin with Danny Welbeck doubtful for the trip because of a hamstring injury, David Meyler out long term once more and Bolo Zenden suspended for his absurd tackles. Either way, Gyan has been given leave ot see his family back home in four weeks, but until then, he would do well to have a look a better at the fixtures calendar.
