Well its a new year, and that means its time for a new England jersey for the three lions to sport during the upcoming Euros. Now this kit is whiter than the queen’s teeth, just like the last England home kit, but it does have a few unique features which are worth a butchers.
First off, you’ll notice the multi-colored crosses are gone from the top of the shirt, and for me, its a welcome change. Something just looked wrong about them. From a distance, they almost looked like polka dots, and up close they didn’t seem to make anymore sense. I get they were supposed to look like St. George’s cross, but with the full rainbow of colors used it just didn’t really work, and I definitely passed on getting one. The new England home kit is far classier, and there are no strange graphics here.
The crest, Umbro logo, names, and numbers on the kit are red. The same color red that features on St. George’s cross, as seen on the English national flag. Now this is a new development by Umbro as traditionally the England crest has been more than one color.
Honestly, I like the change and the red on white gives the jersey a polished look that’s oozes class. There is also a red detail running along the collar, and a few buttons to fasten below the neck to pay homage to England’s many international victories.
Overall, its a good looking kit, and a must have for every England supporter.
