Home / National Teams / Nike USA Away Jersey 2012

The United States national team debuted their new kits today and it was accompanied with a historic victory against Italy. Until today, the United States had never beaten Italy in 11 previous meetings. I guess these new jerseys are a sign of good things ahead for the national team and they definitely needed a morale boost the way Jurgen Klinsmann’s tenure has began. But lets get back to these great looking jerseys. The previous style was a little dull for my liking. Even though the design is not radically new, enough has changed to make these look much better.

Style

As is custom, the United States generally wears a navy jersey for away games. This design stays true to that, as the main color is navy. However, Nike has lightened up the navy a little bit and it looks nice. This jersey keeps the sash that the United States have become accustomed to having on their jerseys, but with this design the sash is just a darker navy instead of white. They have also added white to the sleeves that does give a “sweater vest” look, but it goes well. One of my favorite additions with the new design is the collar. It is crew cut and features red, white and blue to provide a more patriotic feel than previous generations. These are made out of 100 percent polyester so they are very comfortable and durable. They also feature Nike Dri-Fit to keep you dry and comfortable in all conditions.

Overall

This jersey looks very nice and incorporates all of the colors of the United States. This jersey also has a more patriotic feel than previous jerseys because they do feature red, white and blue more prominently than before. They are a little pricey at $76.49, but they are brand new and priced the same as the majority of jerseys so it isn’t that bad. If you need to update your gear to cheer on the United States team, head over to SoccerPro and grab one of these great jerseys.
