While it looks all that serious in the video below, this Belgian amateur was left with three displaced vertebrae and a major concussion following a “clash of heads” style tackle in front of the opposition goal. Unfortunately, the referee inexplicably decided the player in question had dived and was faking, giving him a red card as he lay prostrate on a stretcher. While it has to be said players are often stretchered off and then miraculously rise from the pitch, its probably best to check if someone is awake, before sending them off.
