Home / EPL / Nike Manchester United Away Jersey Review – 2012/13

Wayne Rooney has been a prominent feature in the news lately, despite being sidelined with an injury. There has been speculation if Rooney and Robin Van Persie can play together once Rooney recovers from injury, with Rooney saying he is not guaranteed a spot once he is fit again. However, once the England striker returns, there will likely be a spot in the team for him. When the team travels away from Old Trafford, Rooney will be wearing the new Nike Manchester United away jersey.

This away jersey is predominantly white, but still features the traditional red and black colors associated with Manchester United. This jersey features a unique collar that is similar to the collar of France’s home jersey they wore during the Euro’s. This collar is outlined in red along with the sleeve cuffs. This helps tie in the color everyone associates with Manchester United.

An interesting change with this jersey is Manchester United’s crest. Traditionally, their crest is featured in gold on their jerseys. However, the crest on this jersey is black and white. It looks sleek and fits well with the design of the away jersey. Aon remains the team’s sponsor and is pressed on the center of the jersey in black. This jersey also pays homage to the city of Manchester’s industrial history with “forged in industry, striving for glory,” pressed on the inside of the jersey.

Not only does this jersey look great, but it is also very comfortable. It is made of 100 percent polyester to keep it light. Like most Nike jerseys, this one features Nike’s Dri-Fit technology. This helps keep you dry and comfortable as you cheer United on to victory.

The season is still in it’s early stages, so it may take a while to see how Rooney and Van Persie play together, but one thing is for sure: they will be wearing a great looking jersey when they are playing away from Old Trafford.
