Stupidity and Hooliganism Prevail in Greek League
May 2nd
AEK Athens won their first Greek Cup final since 2002 on Saturday as they defeated Atromitos 3-0. It was by all accounts a one sided affair, but not bad tempered, that is not until the final whistle had blown. At that point, AEK Athens fans invaded the pitch and fought a pitched battle with Atromitos players and fans ans they scramble to escape the melee. There have even been reports of flare guns being point at the VIP areas and players families as they fled the chaos. At some point the riot police moved in under a hails of sign boards and seat fragments to restore order. Atromitos president Giorgios Spanos later said that the riot had “set Greek football back by another hundred years.” I’m going to agree with that statement.
Not since the recent Serb hooliganism at the European qualifiers has football been marred with such violence, and in further developments today it seems Atromitos supporters have burned down AEK’s club offices and two cars in retaliation. Hopefully, this stupidity will be brought under control by the Greek FA in the next week as the Greek government have threaten to pull all funding for soccer events. Maybe its the kick in the behind they need…

Schalke’s Coach Takes a Satirical Swipe at Manchester United, England
Apr 26th
Schlake 04 coach Ralf Rangnick, is known as a bit of a comedian and he’s unleashed a barrage of satire on Manchester and England as a whole ahead of tonights Champions League clash. For my part, I think its about time the Germans got one back against the English for all those awful jokes they have on the BBC about them…
“The English are going nuts this week about the wedding – no, not Katie Price this time but Prince William,” gushed the column. “England is the motherland of football of course. But they have still not learned about penalties.
“In Wayne Rooney we have the eternal favourite son-in-law for English mothers and that evergreen youngster Edwin van der Sar, who takes goalkeeping tips from Jens Lehmann. And then there is Malcolm Glazer, who for Manchester United fans is the equivalent of Lord Voldemort.”
Almost 2,500 United fans are expected at the first-leg encounter, each with a similar name, according to Schalke.
“The typical Manc man is called Paul. He has darts in his right pocket and in his left pocket has a picture of a bulldog. The girls are called Samantha. And can you believe they put vinegar on their chips?”

Pa Modou Kah Knows How to Celebrate…Keep it Classy
Apr 18th
Pa Modou Kah, yes that’s his real name, player for Roda JC, a top tier Eredivisie side. Strugglers VVV-Venlo were the visiting team for this match, and came off of it the worse of the 5-2 scoreline. Still cracking match, hilarious celebration. Wish we had more like him in an MLS jersey, seems Timber Joey will have t keep it for interesting for now.

Quinonez Wilson Scores a Goal From 90 Yards Out
Apr 12th
Quinonez Wilson, who plays for Sport Colombia in Paraguay’s second tier, has scored the longest recorded freekick in history. Last Sunday he fired home from an amazing 90 yards and hit the back of the net at the other end. If you watch carefully, the ball doesn’t even bounce, its a true goal.

French Striker Falls on Face, Scores Goal
Apr 4th
This is either the luckiest man on the pitch, or the most awkward display of skill I have ever seen by a man wearing soccer cleats.

Nike USA Women’s Training Top and Shorts Review
Apr 2nd
I am really exited about the USA women’s training top. I have to admit I was slaking a little with getting in shape for spring break but with the new training top and short I suddenly feel inspired to work out and get bikini ready.
The charcoal gray Dri Fit shirt is extremely thin making it very light weight. I hate nothing more than taking a run and feeling like I am wearing a sweatshirt because of how heavy my shirt is. Luckily this new training top is perfect for hot weather. Plus it looks sharp. The dark color hides sweat well so I don’t feel self-conscious working out. The black tape elements on the sleeves help reduce friction with the jersey. The two different mesh panels located on the back and under the arms allow for excellent ventilation keeping you cool and refreshed during your whole workout. The top fits true to size and is loose fitting.
I’m not one for spending a lot on training tops but it is well worth the $60. You will definitely get you $60 out of it.
To go along with the training top are the USA women’s training shorts. The training shorts are black with red accents. The red is featured on the Nike and on the sides with two thin lines. These are 100 percent Polyester and are incredibly priced at $25. The only downfall I would note is they are not lightweight. Saying that though they aren’t going to fall apart.
I wish they made the training gear in more colors because I would buy all of them. I practice, run and lounge in these. They’re so comfortable you’ll never want to take them off.

USA Women’s Away Jersey Review
Apr 1st
The USA women’s team proved worthy of their Germany spot after winning the Algarve Cup. The USA is playing their game and is expecting to do big things once June rolls around. June 26th starts off the women’s world cup and the USA apparel is in! The USA jerseys will be sure to stand out this year with a new bold look.
The USA womens away jersey is black with red accents that run down from either side of the collar and come together about half way down. Its got a white Nike crest embroidered on the right breast, and the US Soccer crest on the left. The material is Dri Fit making it very light and airy. The Dri Fit material does a great job at pulling away sweat to help keep you dry and comfortable. The fit of the jersey’s are pretty relaxed and very true to size so you don’t have to worry about them making you look frumpy.
The jerseys are sure to be a hit because they go so well with a pair of jeans and fit tightly enough that you can wear them out of the house. It also great for working out at the gym, or just lounging around the house. My favorite thing to do with it is to throw on my boy shorts and just hang out in my room while I’m studying for finals cause it keeps you warm really well. They also go great the fancy new womens USA soccer jackets they’ve come out with to match. Make sure you grab a jersey to show your support the USA women’s team in the 2011 World Cup.

If Your World Cup Side Can’t Afford Your Own Gym, Go to the Public One for Training
Mar 31st
It seems the cash strapped North Korean World Cup squad couldn’t afford their own private gym rental for the World Cup. Apparently they spent all of their budget on those Chinese actors they paid to pretend they were fans (no joke they actually did that), so they went to this public gym in Johannesburg.

Classic 1990 USA World Cup Team Music Video
Mar 31st
Apparently they thought it was a good idea for the 1990 USA World Cup to do a music video with Def Jam in order to drum up interest and support at home. US soccer has never recovered.
